Having built a Leox (Spanish prototype combining a Leopard and a AMX30) from two Heller kits, I wanted to change the very poor tracks of the kits. Without any hesitation I chose Meng offering. They are the D 640 A type fitted to the whole Leopard 1 family of vehicles. Of course they fit to the Meng Leopard but also to the Heller one.
The packaging is a small box with very comprehensive assembly instructions at the back.
At the opening we get 4 bags each of which contains a specific type of parts in black plastic that makes 204 connectors with pins, 378 parts for the track pads (upper and lower parts) 24 ice cleats and an assembly jig.
Each track pad is attached to the sprue by one point whereas the connectors has five.
Concerning the assembly, the connectors are a nightmare as the pins break as soon as you exert any constraint on them. At the slightest twist, the sanction is immediate.
At 12 euros the price is fair.
Conclusion: This is the third set I assembled and I am satisfied with the expected result. Concernign the parts preparation be patient, really patient!
