The AS 90 is the standard SP howitzer in service with the British army and replaces the 105mm Abbot howitzer. Two versions exist: the 35 calibers gun and the 52 calibers one. Trumpeter proposes both version in the box but the travel lock is suitable to the longer version only. Unfortunately, I noticed this just once the model was completed !
The building is easy without
any trap. The gun comes in several parts and needs attention to
get the proper alignment. As for the other early production
models, the fitting is not always nice. Some putty and a sharp
knife remain necessary.
The sole improvement to the kit is photoetched mesh replacing the
plastic one for the turret basket. It should be noticed that
Accurate Armour proposes various detailing sets.
